ABOUT

Welcome to WINPAC, the Women’s Investment Network Political Action Committee.

WINPAC was founded in 1987.
For more than 35 years, WINPAC has raised tens of thousands of dollars each election cycle to
help pro-choice Democratic women running for the Oregon Legislature.

The founding “mothers” of WINPAC were Betty Roberts (former legislator and first women to serve on the Oregon Supreme Court), Jewel Lansing (former auditor for Portland and Multnomah County), Gretchen Kafoury (former legislator, city and county commissioner), Darlene Hooley (former county commissioner, legislator, and Congresswoman), Maureen Leonard (then Oregon Supreme Court clerk), and Patricia McCaig (then assistant to Oregon Secretary of State Barbara Roberts).

We are dedicated to building a progressive Oregon by electing pro-choice Democratic women to the Oregon Legislature.  When women are involved in the political process, our democracy is truly representative. When women make policy, the needs of women and families are not ignored.

We believe in the power of women to shape Oregon for the benefit of all – in particular when it comes to protecting our reproductive rights.

Why WINPAC?  Women are 50 percent of Oregon’s population, but did you know that only 41% of the members of the Oregon Legislature are women? We need to change that.

We are proud that every Democratic woman serving in Salem today is a WINPAC endorsed candidate. Women and winning – a great combination.
